Great Crested Newts Great crested newt surveys are required where ponds are present within 250 metres of a proposed development site (up to 500 metres in some cases). JW Ecological Ltd carries out a large number of Newt Surveys every year using a variety of methods as per Natural England and CCW guidelines. Surveys vary from single ponds for small planning applications to large numbers of ponds on pipline schemes. Where Great Crested Newts are found to be present we offer full mitigation services including licensing, installation of temporary or permanent newt fencing and site supervision. |

Birds Virtually all species of bird are protected whilst on the nest. Certain species, including the Barn Owl and Kingfisher, are further protected against any form of disturbance whilst they are nesting. JW Ecological Ltd can carry out site surveys to determine the potential impact of development proposals on nesting birds. We also survey buildings and trees/shrubs during the nesting season (March to August) to determine if nesting birds are present prior to the start of development works. |
